Electric Guitar

I designed and built an electric guitar. The body is made from alder wood, and the volume and tone dials go to 11.

Blacksmithing

At Colby, I took a blacksmithing elective and created a number of useful things, like a bottle opener, a crown, and a really long spoon.

Papercraft Props (Work In Progress)

I enjoy making props from pop culture, especially the Halo video games. Below are two helmets I made using papercraft, which involves cutting out pieces of cardstock, carefully folding them, and hot gluing them together. The the helmets below took roughly ~40 hours each to make. The next steps include coating them in resin, reinforcing the interior with filler, adding a visor, and painting.

Viking Shield

I made a Viking-style shield as a fun little project and to practice martial arts. It's constructed of a plywood body, a poplar handle, a steel shield boss, and rawhide rim. The rawhide is stitched onto the rim with leather thread, and prevents the edge from splintering when struck. The front is covered in linen, which is glued on, and painted, preventing splintering from frontal strikes. The shield is center-grip, and a steel shield boss protects the hand and deflects glancing blows away from the user. Click HERE and HERE to see it in action.
