About Me
My name is Jake Burns, and I help organizations accomplish their goals and create positive change. For much of my career, I've worked as a copywriter in the advertising world, both full-time and as a freelancer. Now, I use my skills for work that more closely aligns with my values and sense of purpose. I have a Certificate in Grant Writing from the People's Nonprofit Accelerator in Portland, Oregon, and am currently working in service of philanthropic causes, primarily in the New England region.
In my free time, I enjoy getting outside, and am currently training to join Wilderness Search and Rescue. My hobbies include gardening, historical fencing, writing, and playing guitar. I’m an eternal student of self-improvement and constantly looking for things to add to this section.
I have a degree in History from Colby College with a minor in Classical Civilization. I also have an MFA from USM’s Stonecoast Creative Writing MFA program. I was born and raised in Maine and have explored all over the country and the beauty that the natural world has to offer.
